With the current and against the current (grades 4–8)
In the early 1930s, American physicist Robert Van de Graaff constructed a device that still inspires awe and... slight shivers. The generator not only allows us to understand the mysteries of electrostatics, but also to see them spectacularly – and feel them.
Under the guidance of an experienced educator, participants will discover that a voltage of a thousand volts can be not only safe, but also fascinating. Thanks to the negligible current intensity, participants will experience first-hand phenomena that usually remain the domain of laboratories.
Among other things, we will make our hair stand on end, move objects without touching them and shoot lightning bolts. The impressive experiments will also be supported by the Electrostatic Machine – a high-voltage generator whose rotating crank releases spectacular flashes between the electrodes.
The workshops are not only a show, but also an energetic experience that stimulates curiosity, combines science with fun and remains in the memory for a long time.
