Museum lesson: The Industrial Revolution and the development of gas engineering

The Industrial Revolution was one of the most important turning points in human history – it was then that innovations appeared which changed the rhythm of everyday life and reshaped cities. As part of a special museum lesson, secondary school students will be able to travel back to the 19th century and discover how the first gas networks were created and why the light of gas lanterns became a symbol of modernity.

During the class, young people will learn not only about the history of gas production itself, but also about the role it played in the dynamic development of industry and social life in the age of steam and steel. Interactive exhibits will allow participants to understand for themselves how old gasworks functioned and how they affected the safety and comfort of city dwellers.

The lesson, prepared in the form of an attractive museum meeting, is not limited to a lecture. It is a story about the era that gave birth to modernity – an era in which gas lighting became a harbinger of progress and innovation.
