A new take on history at the Warsaw Gasworks Museum

This is a unique opportunity to travel back in time and see what the technological infrastructure looked like and meet the people who, for decades, ensured the smooth operation of one of the capital's key facilities.

The photographs on display show employees working with powerful machines, engineers overseeing complex installations, as well as fragments of the urban landscape in which the gasworks was an integral part of industrial Warsaw. Some of the photographs were taken during special events – anniversaries, modernisations or visits by official guests – while others depict everyday life, captured in natural, unposed shots.

The exhibition has not only a historical dimension, but also a personal one. There is a chance that visitors will recognise their relatives, friends or neighbours among the faces immortalised in the exhibition.

The new part of the exhibition is in line with the mission of the Warsaw Gasworks Museum, which is to document and popularise the history of gas energy in the capital. It is a place where industrial history meets stories about people – their work, passions and everyday life in a changing Warsaw.

The museum encourages all enthusiasts of the city's history, photography lovers and those interested in the history of the capital's industry to visit. A visit to the MGW is a journey through history, witnessed and created by our ancestors.
