National Reading at the Warsaw Gasworks Museum – a book as an admission ticket

On Saturday, 6 September 2025, visitors will be treated to a unique offer – anyone who brings a copy of the book Poezje (Poems) will be admitted to the museum free of charge.
This unusual form of participation – a ‘book ticket’ – is not only intended to encourage people to reach for literary classics, but also to symbolically connect the world of the written word with the industrial heritage documented by the MGW.
‘We want the museum to be a space where different strands of culture meet – both literary and technical. The National Reading provides an excellent opportunity for this,’ says Paweł Bąk, Director of the museum.
Participants will be able to listen to excerpts from the works of Jan Kochanowski and take part in a guided tour of the museum exhibition. Guided tours of the exhibition are scheduled for 12:00 and 13:30.
It is worth remembering that those planning to take advantage of free admission should not buy a ticket via the website – admission will only be granted on site, upon presentation of a book.
The Warsaw Gasworks Museum invites literature and history enthusiasts to celebrate National Reading Day together in a unique setting, where classic Polish poetry meets the history of Warsaw's gas industry.
