Join us in creating a unique art exhibition dedicated to Ignacy Łukasiewicz!

Publication date: 25.02.2026
Event date: 08.03.2026
On the occasion of Ignacy Łukasiewicz's birthday, we invite children and young people to contribute to an extraordinary exhibition. Together with you, we want to create a gallery of portraits of one of Poland's most outstanding inventors – a pioneer of the oil industry and the creator of the kerosene lamp.
Join us in creating a unique art exhibition dedicated to Ignacy Łukasiewicz!

This is an open artistic initiative in which anyone can become a co-creator of the exhibition. Your works will become part of the birthday exhibition at the National Museum in Warsaw, creating an inspiring space combining art, history and science.

What should you do?

  • Prepare a portrait of Ignacy Łukasiewicz in advance – using any artistic technique. It can be a drawing, painting, collage or graphic art. What counts is creativity, ideas and your own interpretation of the character.
  • Bring your finished work to the MGW on 8 March. On that day, all the portraits submitted will be presented at a joint birthday exhibition.

A gift for every author

In gratitude for their commitment and participation in creating the exhibition, each author of a submitted work will receive a gift:

  • a set of building blocks ‘Oil mine in Bóbrka’ (while stocks last) or
  • the book ‘Wszystko jasne! Ignacy Łukasiewicz, wielki polski wynalazca’ (Everything is clear! Ignacy Łukasiewicz, the great Polish inventor) – full of inspiring stories and interesting facts.

We invite you to celebrate and engage in creative activities with us. Let 8 March be a day full of imagination, inspiration and encounters in the world of art and science.
