Waclaw Sobieranski is a figure who made a name for himself as a hero and expert in the field of chemistry during and after the Second World War.

As a chemical engineer, he played a key role in defending Warsaw and saving the lives of many people, both civilians and soldiers.
During the German occupation, Sobierański defended Warsaw's gasworks, the operation of which was vital to the upkeep of the city. His courage during the Warsaw Uprising, when he successfully defended the plant from evacuation by the Germans, saved the lives of many people, including Jewish refugees.
After the war, he did not rest on his laurels - he actively participated in the reconstruction of the Polish chemical industry, which was of great importance for the development of post-war Poland.
