‘Light in the winter darkness’
Join us for a unique winter break full of inspiring discoveries and creative fun! During our workshops, participants will travel back in time to the era before electricity to learn about the fascinating history of city lighting and the secrets of the former Warsaw Gasworks.
During the classes, young explorers will learn:
- how the gasworks operated,
- how lighting gas was produced,
- how the appearance of Warsaw changed when street lamps were lit for the first time.
This is a unique opportunity to understand how important light was in the everyday lives of the city's residents over a century ago.
There will also be a practical and creative part! During the workshops, participants will make their own winter lanterns, inspired by the atmosphere of old gas lanterns. These unique, handmade decorations will not only be a souvenir from the holidays, but also a beautiful symbol of winter light and warmth.
The classes are conducted by experienced educators from the Warsaw Gasworks Museum, who combine history, science and fun in an accessible and interesting way. It is an ideal way to spend the winter holidays in the unique atmosphere and space of the Warsaw Gasworks Museum — with a touch of history and a large dose of creativity!
